Touring Gear: beyerdynamic launches award-winning series of live microphones at NAMM
13. January 2012
Anaheim, CA, January 2012/MD: beyerdynamic, the German audio specialist, continues its strong tradition of quality as it celebrates the US debut of its new Touring Gear microphone series, at the NAMM Show in Anaheim/USA.
A microphone can transmit natural sound, but it can also transmit so much feeling. Yet another reason for beyerdynamic to set especially high standards and to build the very best microphones. “The new TG microphone series is the next step in our fireworks of innovation of the past years,” says Wolfgang Luckhardt, Managing Director of beyerdynamic. “Today’s users do not always know immediately which product is the right one for them. Thus, a self-explanatory, logical product structure was the starting point of our considerations. But beyond that, we have made our Sound Channelling Technology a true unique selling proposition, which is responsible for that special “beyerdynamic sound” – as clear and natural as in real life. It makes us unique, and our customers appreciate that. This comprehensive microphone relaunch is a new milestone in the audio industry.”
The Touring Gear series of microphones showcases a complete product range for the stage, with a new uniform and elegant design, the best specifications, and a clear, easily understood classification system for the product portfolio. The TG (for Touring Gear) is followed by the letter of the specific area of application – V for vocal, H for headsets, L for lavalier, D for drums and I for instruments. The first character specifies the category; the letter that follows specifies the microphone type – d for dynamic, c for condenser and r for ribbon microphone. An additional S signifies a model with a switch.
Touring Gear – The Four Categories:
TG 30: The TG 30 series is the perfect introduction into the world of
beyerdynamic. An entry level series that can produce large
beyerdynamic sound within a small budget.
TG 50: The TG 50 models, with their high quality and outstanding sound, are sure to impress – not only with their technical and tonal characteristics, but also with their looks. The TG 50 series covers all applications related to the stage – from vocals, instruments and drums to headsets and lavalier microphones. TG 50 is the standard Touring Gear series with truly premium performance.
TG 70: The models of the TG 70 series go one step further in every direction and make no compromises: even better technical characteristics and even higher quality materials for even better sound. Every detail counts – both during development and during manufacturing. The result: first-class microphones – handcrafted in Germany.
TG 90: The very top class within the Touring Gear microphone series comprises the TG 90 models – especially finely crafted and beyond comparison in both design and sound. High-end equipment handcrafted in Germany for users who are looking for the “non plus ultra.” The performance of the TG 90 series fulfils the most demanding requirements on the stage. The series includes the unique TGV90r ribbon microphone as well as the TG V96c true condenser microphone for live vocal applications.
Sound Channelling Technology:
To achieve that unique, natural beyerdynamic sound, beyerdynamic has been developing and refining its Sound Channelling Technology for decades. The beyerdynamic acoustic experts have created acoustic labyrinths with special geometries that provide optimised sound channelling. They influence the sound and model the polar pattern by using precisely tuned delay lines and attenuation pads. Whether with additional elements, special materials or a unique design: every beyerdynamic microphone has its own Sound Channelling Technology to ensure optimal control of the sound waves resulting in optimum sound.
