Hi-fi sound for eyes and ears

Heilbronn, August 2010: Whether street wear, college style or full-on glamour – fashion-conscious buyers can be discerning when it comes to technology. Function alone is not enough; the products they buy also need to look good. Heilbronn-based audio specialist beyerdynamic has therefore answered the call and designed a collection of affordable in-ear headphones that will satisfy the aesthetic demands of modern music fans.

Available from September 2010, the new DTX 11 iE and DTX 21 iE headphones don’t just offer great audio quality - their elegant, colorful design and intricate details give each model an individual touch. And the price is so affordable that one can have several of the headphones, to match the current outfit.

The DTX 11 iE model is supplied with distinctive clothes buttons on the cable, designed to complement the clothing of the user. As an added functional detail, the buttons strengthen the y-cable of the two headphone conductors, and can be pulled through the buttonhole of a jacket or coat to attach the cable of the headphones.

Depending on the version, the buttons and earpieces of the DTX 11 iE are available in a variety of colors - turquoise, green or purple. For those who prefer a little more understatement, there are also two versions in light and charcoal grey. All five versions of the DTX 11 iE conform to the consistent beyerdynamic virtues: to provide an open, natural and balanced sound.

Acoustically and visually, the DTX 21 iE has even more to offer. Powerful bass and open, clear highs pack a punch which is ideal for today’s variety of music styles. Two versions in beige and blackberry serve as mobile phone or MP3 accessories, with attractive beads that are lined up on the headphone cable like a necklace. Subtle designs on the earpieces add to the striking looks of the headphone.

The DTX 21 iE unisex model in dark brown replaces the beads on the cable with a pendant in the shape of a small guitar and adds subtle, stylized note designs on the earpieces; a look which is truly unique.
Available in September 2010 in the beyerdynamic online shop at www.beyerdynamic.com

EISA Award for beyerdynamic

Awarded: The T 50 p from beyerdynamic is the Mobile Headphone of the Year in Europe

Heilbronn, August 2010: The editors-in-chief of 53 trade magazines from 20 countries have voted – and chosen the new beyerdynamic T 50 p as “European Mobile Headphone 2010-2011” in the EISA 2010 awards. The trophy has been awarded since 1989 by the European Imaging and Sound Association, an affiliation of renowned hi-fi, photography and electronic magazines.

“This award is an honor for us and shows that we are setting new acoustic benchmarks with our Tesla technology”, said a happy Mario Gebhardt, Head of Development for Audio Products at beyerdynamic. Under the “Tesla” description, the well-established Heilbronn-based company combines an entire bundle of sound-enhancing measures that are based on a particularly powerful magnetic drive system. At the same time, the name is a nod to the ingenious electrical engineer Nikola Tesla (1856-1943), to whom the developers of groundbreaking inventions utilizing alternating current owe quite a lot.

But the EISA experts were not just taken with the excellent sound of the T 50 p: the jury specifically praised the beautiful and elaborately handicrafted design in their laudation. The headphone won them over due to its wearing comfort, making “hours of relaxed listening” possible. The T 50 p, launched in spring 2010, is already the second headphone to feature Tesla technology. The beyerdynamic invention celebrated its premiere last year with the top-of-the-range model T 1 for the high-end hi-fi market. And the T 50 p is not to be the last Tesla headphone: the audio specialist will present the T 5 p at IFA 2010 in Berlin - audiophile headphones for those “on-the-go” that clearly take the tonal refinements of the EISA award winner to extremes.

About beyerdynamic

The Federal Employment Agency holds meetings with beyerdynamic conference systems

At the Federal Employment Agency in Nuremberg / Germany one of the conference rooms was equipped...

The Federal Employment Agency performs comprehensive service tasks for the employment and vocational training market in Germany. All over the country, there is an extensive net of employment agencies and committee’s offices. It is the biggest authority in Germany and one of the biggest employers of the Federal State.
At the Federal Employment Agency in Nuremberg / Germany one of the conference rooms was equipped with the beyerdynamic MCS-Digital conference system.
They chose the new MCS-D 3041 microphone unit with a practical foldaway gooseneck microphone. The H version is fitted with a cable connector at the bottom of the housing allowing a discreet installation without visible cable. The existing system was replaced, leaving holes in the tables, plates with the same Nextel® coating as the housing of the microphone units were used to cover the holes.

The main PA system consists of 6 loudspeakers from Fohhn. In order to avoid feedback, the microphone units were divided into four groups and the appropriate audio signals of the groups were separately routed from the audio interface into an audio DSP.
Inside the audio DSP the sound system was adjusted in a way that the microphone units have a lower level in their own zone than the other three groups. This decreased the tendency to feedback considerably and the volume of the conference system could be essentially increased.

Due to the very long cable routes between the control unit and the conference room the voltage supply of the supply units was routed via usual power lines to the bottom inserts and from there applied to the system again. A ring cabling from both sides, powers the microphone units. This allows a high operating reliability of the MCS-Digital system, as the system continues to operate even when a microphone unit is removed. A microphone unit can be replaced or connected additionally during operation and receives all settings automatically.
For international meetings the conference system includes three MCS-D 202 interpretation consoles with DT 394 headsets. With the language selector of the MCS-D 3041 microphone units, the participants of the conference can select the required language and listen via headphone.
A technician’s microphone unit can be used for internal communication between interpreter and chairman microphone unit. Some functions of the control unit are controlled via a Crestron media control system.

Installation: July 2010

Pole Position for beyerdynamic

press conferences at the formula 1 in Hockenheim, Germany have been held with state-of-the-art...

This year’s press conferences at the formula 1 in Hockenheim, Germany have been held, once again, with state-of-the-art conference systems from beyerdynamic.

The press centre at the Hockenheim ring has been equipped for the formula 1 press conference with the new beyerdynamic microphone units with foldaway gooseneck. The acoustic challenge was that the press conferences are held in a big lightweight construction with tin roof, which is close to the pit lane near the racetrack. Therefore, the background noise in the press centre was extremely loud. Additionally the situation was aggravated by a big number of screens reflecting the sound and a shaped rear wall behind the podium that acts like a parabolic reflector.
Therefore, it was important to use directional microphones, which only have a small recording range.
Therefore, they used the new microphone units of the wired MCS-Digital conference system. The microphone units of the MCS-D 30xx series consist of practical foldaway gooseneck microphone units. The LED ring of the gooseneck microphone displays the activated status of the microphone. If the microphone is not needed, it can be folded down. The plug-in connectors allow setting up or removing quickly and easily.
There were four wireless handheld microphones in use for the moderation of the press conference and the questions of the journalists.
The Hockenheim ring is used for events throughout the year. Guided tours, which are held with the TTS 300 tour guide system, are offered for visitors.

T 5 p – The portable sound oasis. beyerdynamic introduces the first mobile headphone with high-end performance.

IFA 2010: Audiophile portable listening

Heilbronn, July 2010: Listening to music, relaxing, forgetting the world - no problem at home. But our mobile society is increasingly on the move. At the airport, on the train, in the hotel room, music lovers and movie enthusiasts have to compromise: mobile headphones on the mp3 player just do not sound as good as their stationary counterparts. But now, the Heilbronn audio specialist beyerdynamic is turning over a new leaf in mobile entertainment. The high-end headphone T5p with Tesla technology offers audiophile sound enjoyment - anytime, anywhere and even with low-output portable devices. Each T 5 p headphone is unique and is manufactured by hand in Heilbronn.

Perfection in aluminium and leather
Sophisticated design, high-quality materials and perfect “Made in Germany” workmanship set the T 5 p apart as a special listening device. High quality soft leather headbands and ear pads fit snugly on the user’s head. The closed structure isolates ambient noise and gives moments of peace and quiet in which the music can flow undisturbed. The new sound generators with Tesla technology are held in luxury aluminium holders. Like the tested and critically praised beyerdynamic T 1, it has strong magnetic drive and a sound reproduction free from coloration, and with an extremely low distortion factor.

Tesla Technology
beyerdynamic named its innovative conversion technology after the electrical engineer Nikola Tesla born in 1856, a brilliant inventor and pioneer in modern power supply. And like Tesla, the Heilbronn developers shied at nothing to realise their dream: creating the ultimate mobile headphone. The high magnetic flux density of the Tesla drive is used in the T 5 p for a particularly powerful, energy efficient reproduction. Adapted to the low impedance of 32 Ohms, it draws out significantly more sound quality from devices such as the iPod, iPad, MP3 players or the notebook. The T 5 p accomplishes what was considered impossible in high-end circles: Producing absolute first class mobile sound. This makes this headphone fun right from the very first second. It is the perfect portable companion for musical escapes on the way to work or while travelling.

Maximum performance at all volumes
The unusually large membrane for a mobile headphone contributes to the superior power. Where compact models with small converters quickly play to the limits of their capacities, the T5p only needs to utilize a fraction of its acoustic reserves. The result is a balanced and detailed sound, free of coloration, even when listening to data compressed music at high volumes. Of course, the T5p is just as suitable for lower volume: it provides fine sound details with the naturalness of a large capacity engine driven in the low speed range.

Travel set for sound enthusiasts
The T5p has a 1.2 meter short connecting cable with an angular 3,5 mm plug for portable players, and a 3 meter extension cable for home Hi-fi and surround systems. An airline adaptor and a 6,35 mm standard stereo adaptor are also included. The T5p comes in a custom-made felt case exclusively made by a hat factory from Bavaria. With the T5p from beyerdynamic, you always have the best sound with you.

The headphone will be shown for the first time at the IFA Exhibition in Berlin from 3 to 8 September 2010 in Hall 3.2, Stand 133.

Available from September 2010 in qualified specialty shops and in the beyerdynamic online shop: www.beyerdynamic.de/shop.

RRP: 890 Euros

T 5 p technical specifications:
